Dear Staff & Students,

In light of the recent volcanic eruption in Tonga,  please be warned that there is an eminent risk of acid rain and contaminated water sources.

You all are advised to, at all costs, avoid bathing in the rain or using rainwater for drinking and cooking purposes. As far as possible, clean up existing water tanks and remove guttering from existing water supply systems.

Symptoms of exposure to acid rain are itchiness and skin irritation, blurry and discoloration of vision if exposed to the eye.

If eyes or skin are exposed to acidic rain, please see a medical doctor or physician for appropriate treatment.

Please avoid exposing oneself to the rain until advised to do so.

Let us join hands in prayer for our neighbours in Tonga and all Tongans here and abroad.

Take care and stay safe.
