Afghanistan is a landlocked country that sits in a harsh, almost hospitalised area, between traditional crossroads of great powers. Inhabited by many mixed tribal groups. Thus in the 19th century, Afghanistan became an area of interest between large empires such as the British, USSR and the USA. The war or the Proxy war was derived from a 1978 coup when Afghanistan's Communist party took power, initiating a series of radical modernization reforms throughout the country backed up by the USSR who wanted Afghanistan a Communist empire. By 1979 the USA was involved backing up the Mujahadeen providing arms and equipment along with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and the United Kingdom in aid to drive out the USSR red army and the terrorist groups. The USA, therefore, was involved as they tried to eliminate Communist country hence it was not a success when after the war, Afghanistan has fallen from being modernization to a government lead by terrorists and corrupted leaders.
