Under Economic, the United States wanted to encourage free trade throughout the world. The Soviet Union wanted to shield off their own sphere from international commerce. Russia feared that trading with the west would involved the risk of Russia being open to western influences which would have eroded the strength of the total regime. This led to much ill feeling between the two. Under Military, power was largely shared between the Soviet Union and the United States. Both wanted to dominate the other, conflict were inevitable. Under Political, the two represents two opposing governments. The United States is elected by free election where people can have a say. however, in the Soviet Union, the people do not have the right to form their own political parties.
