Christmas is a special occasion. It is a time when our Christian brothers and sisters celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ and his teachings of love, peace and forgiveness. However, for all Fijians, Christmas represents a special time to reflect on the year and get together with family and friends regardless of their religious beliefs.

I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone at the Fiji National University for their hard work, resilience and dedication. 2021 has been a uniquely challenging year for the FNU family. We survived and recorded the most protracted fully online learning & teaching in our history, launched our new five year Strategic Plan and our newest brand, TVET Pasifika. We acquired strong support for our TVET and re-skilling programmes from the Fijian Government, industry partners and prospective students.

I am sure you have made plans for your vacation. Enjoy your time with your family. Have a safe trip to whichever part of the world your holiday takes you to. Please continue to adhere to the Covid sage protocols and encourage your loved ones to do the same.

We will close the university half-day on Friday 24th December 2021 (Christmas eve) and 31st December 2021 (New Year's eve) to allow staff to undertake personal commitments.

Celebrate the joy of the festive season. Peace and blessings to you all in the new year!

Vinaka vaka levu.
