TO ALL STAFF AND STUDENTS:
In view of a cluster of positive COVID-19 cases and to mitigate the risk of further infection, and with the powers vested in me under 2(a) of the University’s Incident Management Policy, I hereby declare a State of Campus Emergency at the FNU Natabua Campus.
This declaration only applies to Natabua Campus. Given the urgency to contain the spread of the coronavirus, all movement shall be restricted at Natabua Campus, and this shall commence from 6 pm Friday 13 August 2021, to 6 pm Friday 20 August 2021. During this period, there shall be no movement of staff or students in or out of the campus, and access will be strictly provided only to frontline and emergency workers. At the end of the 7-day period, a review will be conducted by the Incident Response Team to determine the need to extend or terminate the restrictions.
All COVID-positive individuals have now been transferred from the Natabua Campus to the Government’s designated Isolation Facility where they will be monitored closely and attended to by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services Response Teams.
The University is committed to supporting the safety and welfare of its students, staff, and visitors and will make every effort to respond to incidents and operational disruptions based on the situation, information, and resources available.
In the meantime, please continue to adhere to all COVID-19 safety protocols and restrictions.
Should there be a need for further clarification, do not hesitate to contact the Director Estates and Facilities on 992 4896 or the Incident Controller, Manager OHS on 998 6505.
Stay safe and take care.
Professor Toby Wilkinson,
Vice-Chancellor, FNU
