Dear Students,

We hope you and your families are keeping safe and well. Please continue to follow all the public health guidelines and government regulations to help us beat COVID-19.

We would like to reassure all students that the University will support you through these challenging times. Your welfare remains our number 1 focus.

FNU and FNUSA are working together closely to ensure that all students can complete their studies and that no student is disadvantaged. If you do have a concern, please contact your College Dean, the Office of the Registrar, or your FNUSA representative. Your University will respond quickly to all requests for support.

We would like to share the following important updates with you. Please read this email carefully.

1. FEE WAIVERS AND DEFERRALS (Hostel & Tuition Fees)

Hostel fees:

  • Students who have checked out of their FNU hostel accommodation and completed a checkout form will have their hostel fees adjusted and credit transferred to their account which can be used in the next enrolment.
  • Students who have checked out of their hostel accommodation and are facing severe financial hardship may apply for a refund by completing the form available from the FNU website at: https://www.fnu.ac.fj/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Applicationfor-Refund-of-Fees.pdf Completed refund forms should be emailed to accommdationenquiries@fnu.ac.fj
  • Students who have not returned to their FNU hostel accommodation after the mid-semester break will get a hostel fee refund in the form of a credit note. Students who still have belongings to collect should not worry: personal property will remain secured in their respective rooms.
  • Students who remain in FNU hostel accommodation will continue to receive practical and pastoral support from the University. For any concerns or queries concerning FNU hostel accommodation, please contact Manager Accommodation on 992 0736 or email on maco@fnu.ac.fj or accommdationenquiries@fnu.ac.fj

Flexible fee payments:

  • FNU has a Flexible Fee Payment option for students who face difficulties in paying their fees. The Payment Plan form is available on the website at https://www.fnu.ac.fj/wpcontent/uploads/2021/05/Payment_Plan_Application.pdf
  • Completed forms should be submitted to the Finance Division.
  • FNU also offer an extension of fee payment dates. There will be no extra charges or penalties incurred for the payment plan applications and extension of fee payment dates.
  • For any queries, please email RevenueQueries@fnu.ac.fj

2. FOOD AND ESSENTIAL SUPPLIES

No student in FNU hostel accommodation should go hungry. For any student facing financial difficulties, or problems in accessing food or other essential supplies, your University will look after you. All students in hostel accommodation who are able, within government guidelines, to access food and other essential services within the community, are expected to do so, in common with other citizens. For any concerns or queries, please contact your Hostel Warden or the Manager Accommodation on 992 0736 or email on maco@fnu.ac.fj or accommdationenquiries@fnu.ac.fj

3. EXAMS, ASSESSMENTS & ACADEMIC CALENDAR

To support students during these difficult times, FNU has applied flexibility to deadlines for assessments, and the format of the assessments themselves has been revised. All students will be allowed to complete their assessments with flexibility throughout the semester, quarter and trimester.

Semester 1 Study and Exam week dates are:

  • Week 16: Study Break – 14th June to 18th June 2021
  • Week 17: Examination Week – 21st June to 25th June 2021
  • Week 18: Examination Week – 28th June to 2nd July 2021

For the revised Academic Calendar, see: https://www.fnu.ac.fj/study/apply/academic-calender/ Students are advised to contact their course coordinators for clarifications or further information on assessment and examinations dates.
