Dear all,
Following the announcement of Fiji’s fourth COVID-19 confirmed case this afternoon by the Prime Minister, Honourable Voreqe Bainimarama, the Fiji National University (FNU) is advising all staff outside the greater Lautoka area to work from home starting tomorrow, Wednesday (25/03/2020) until 4 April 2020. The decision has been made to ensure that we maintain minimal movement within the campuses and enables our staff to keep their travels for essential purposes only.
The University will ensure that staff are available to look after any student who remains at our residential halls.
The College Deans and Section Heads may make a final decision on essential staff who are required to be on-site to ensure that security and student welfare is not compromised. Staff are requested to contact their supervisors for guidance on whether they are needed at work.
The University requests its staff for cooperation during this transition and requests you to work closely with your supervisors on your required tasks and to maintain communication with your team via digital means.
The library is now closed for the above period.
As announced earlier, the mid-semester break is extended until 4 April, and students are discouraged from coming to campus and are requested to follow the Ministry of Health’s advise and restrict their movement.
Our three Campuses in Lautoka remain closed to all staff and students. Essential staff remain on campus to look after residential students.
The situation will be reviewed in due course, and staff and students are reminded to follow the University’s social media page, website and FNUPR for any latest updates.
I would like to thank you for being socially responsible and putting the vulnerable in our society first by practising safe hygiene, maintaining social distance and cutting down on your movement.
AVC, FNU.
