The purpose of this unit is to provide information on establishing a dairy herd; routine management practices; feeding management of calves, lactating and dry cows. dairy feeding systems and different types of milking parlours are taught in detail. To maximize profits on dairy farms, value additioon is important. The unit provides information on how to prepare and/or make different dairy products (yorgurt, cheese, ice cream, paneer, sour cream and khoa) . Students will also familiarize themselves with recent technologies in the manufacturing processes of dairy products.
