1.1 Course Description
This course aims to introduce the concept, overview and provides an introductory guide through the maze of interdisciplinary themes that comprise 'biodiversity.' It combines environmental sciences with insights into the origins, variety and distribution of biological diversity, analysis of the social and political context, and the threats to, and opportunities for, the survival of natural systems. A number of original international case studies will be discussed to help students to understand the full range of theory and practice of ‘biodiversity’ and its ‘conservation’.
