This course is designed to assist in the improvement of food safety and food security, throughout the life-course, and in support of public health and sustainable development in the Pacific Island nations. As it is, global food industry is already feeling the destabilizing and disruptive effects of climate change, and with the effects of climate change projected to amplify, food industries are becoming increasingly aware of vulnerabilities to their operation which is a direct effect to people in different communities and all walks of life. In light of this devastating impact of the changing in weather patterns and climatic conditions which has affected the prices of food and restrict its supply, it would be sustainable to devise ways that would help our Pacific communities adapt to resilient ways to sustain food supply. Therefore, this course is designed to enable food experts in the Pacific to develop sustainable food safety programmes that will be able to sustain the food supply for the future generation of PICs.
