The graduate must develop a good working knowledge of the core competencies of Ophthalmology. These include Applied Optics, Corneal and external eye Disease, Lens and Cataract, Glaucoma, Uveitis, Vitreo-Retinal Disease, Neuro-Ophthalmolgy, Oculoplastics, Paediatric Ophthalmolgy, Applied Pharmacology, Low Vision Aids, Ocular Histopathology, and Ocular Oncology.The details of the course are outlined in the Curriculum document, where each topic is greatly expanded, and asterisks are provided to show which areas are core areas that must be known intimately, and other areas for which only a superficial understanding is required.
Over the two years of OPH 820 and OPH 830 the student is expected to develop an increasing breadth of knowledge and experience in all the mentioned core competencies.
