1.1 Course Description
This course introduces computer networking for undergraduate Computer Science graduates. It covers basic to intermediate level networking concepts and its application. The course includes the following topics: introduction to networks, network topologies, types of networks , dissertation of the OSI reference model and its layers, TCP/IP model, common network protocols, network components and devices, communication medium, cables, IP protocol, wired and wireless networking, network optimization, management and security. Students will learn the necessary practical of terminating cables, setting up peer to peer networks, apply IP address, test connectivity. In addition, they will also learn the tools and software required to manage, optimize and secure networks.
