Geographical information system (GIS) focuses on modern techniques in the field of geography. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has become key technology tool for the collection, storage and analysis of spatially referenced data. Industries utilising these spatial technologies include agriculture, forestry, mining, market research, environmental analysis as well as the social and medical sciences. It covers various topics related to principles, techniques and applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and exposes students to current research and developments in these rapidly advancing fields. It covers the tools and techniques of GIS including spatial data capture, management, and analysis, as well as cartographic output through hands-on experience using GIS software. A brief introduction of Remote sensing technology is also included to analyse the importance of GIS.
