This course allows participants to acquire knowledge about different fodder crops and trees, and natural pastures in Fiji. Course topics focuses on study of different methods of cultivating fodder crops; from propagation to harvesting for feeding livestock species, and different methods of preserving the fodder crops and/or trees. Effects of grazing and browsing on abiotic (rangeland soils - soil texture, drainage, fertility, and chemistry) and biotic (plant and animal communities) ecosystems are examined. Practical management activities such as rangeland inventory and monitoring are also appraised.
