This programme is designed to provide fundamental knowledge of industrial automation and field devices commonly associated with it.The participant will be introduced to common field sensors, their operation, application and installation in a simulated industrial environment. This will be complimented by the learning basics skills in setting up and programming PLCs in conjunction with field devices.
People credited with these competencies will be equipped with knowledge and skills to interpret schematics that incorporate control accessories in automated circuits. They will also have a basic knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), including the ability to design and implement a simple program on any one type of PLC. The competencies encompassed in this module is equivalent to Level 5 of the National Qualifications for Electrical Fitter Mechanic.
