The competencies covered in this module addresses the installation, adjustment and setting up of stand-alone photovoltaic power systems. It encompasses working safely and to installation standards, matching components with that specified for a given location, placing and securing system components accurately, making required circuit connections and completing the necessary installation documentation.
Those credited with competencies in this module are able to identify components and their characteristics & functions, locate and install a PV panel correctly, wire up a solar home system, carry out system and cable sizing, carry out maintenance on a solar home system and rectify common faults on a solar home system.The competencies encompassed in this module is equivalent to Level 5 of the National Qualifications for Electrical Fitter Mechanic.
