The competencies covered in this module is specifically for practicing electricians and related trades who require training in understanding and selecting appropriate devices for the protection of electrical circuits and equipments. The module covers the basic principles of protection against the harmful effects of electricity arising from excess current, electric shock, and faults, and the special situations of damp and hazardous areas.
People credited with competencies in this module are able to demonstrate knowledge of circuit protection terms and principles, circuit protection devices, and residual current devices (RCDs) and select circuit protection devices for electrical applications.The competencies encompassed in this module is equivalent to Level 4 of the National Qualifications for Electrical Fitter Mechanic.
